AIRPORTS:
If flying internationally, you are best to fly into Auckland International airport. Leave plenty of time to connect to domestic flights as the domestic airport is approximately a 30 minute walk from the International airport.
Auckland Airport is approximately 261 kms from the site, and takes approximately 3 and a half hours to drive to site.
The closest airport to the site and hotels is Taupo airport. Please be aware that if you fly into this small airport, some flights can be cancelled at late notice. It is recommended that you fly into Rotorua Airport and rent a car, however this airport is approximately an hour away from the site.
Taupo Airport is approximately 18 kms from the site. Anzac Memorial Drive, Wharewaka, Taupo
Rotorua international Airport is approximately 81 kms from the site. 837 Te Ngae Road, Rotorua
CAR RENTALS:
Major rental car agencies are available at all airports. It is strongly suggested that you make your reservation in advance. There is a lot bigger selection of rental cars to choose from in Auckland. Rotorua and Taupo have a limited selection and are major car agencies so tend to be more premium vehicles for a premium price.
TAXI/UBER:
I would only recommend using a Taxi if you are planning on staying on site at the National Equestrian Centre, as it will add up quickly if having to commute daily in and out of town.
Taupo has limited Uber drivers.

From town (Taupo)
Head southeast toward Spa Rd 37 meters
Exit the roundabout onto Tongariro St heading to Thermal Explorer Hwy/Rotorua/Hamilton
550 meters
Continue onto Wairakei Dr 600 meters
Turn left onto Poihipi Rd (signs for Kinloch/Mangakino/Te Kuiti/Great Lake Trail)

There are basic cabins on site at NEC. They have shared bathroom and kitchen facilities. There are also powered and unpowered camping sites available. Please contact and book via the NEC website www.ninec.co.nz It is recommended booking as soon as possible as cabins are limited.

Wairakei Resort – approximately 8 kms away from site, however it is also approximately 8kms into Taupo. There is a large BP service Station across the road.

Due to Covid 19 housing issues, I recommend asking the accommodation management if they are currently housing long term renters. If so, it is recommended that you avoid these.
